- Partnership, Learning and Adaptation through creation and supporting of knowledge sharing platforms, dialogue forums and technical working groups.
- Social Accountability through ensuring meaningful participation and monitoring by youth and women groups.  Â
Stating the gainsÂ
Overall, the project achieved a high rating for effectiveness in institutional building and water infrastructure, reaching 90.6% water access and securing landmark policy wins, such as the Kajiado County Water Policy Act. Further, the county exhibited the most stable functioning of operational facilities, with all water infrastructure (boreholes, 6.2 km of pipeline extensions, and storage tanks), operational and functioning at optimum, these facilities will reach 1,356 people (703 Male, 653 Female). Key successes include the piloting of remote monitoring systems serving 8,350 people and the certification of 8 villages as Open Defecation Free (ODF).
Most Significant ChangeÂ
- Kajiado achieved a transformative shift through the enactment of four key WASH laws, including the Water Policy 2024 and the Public Health and Sanitation Act 2025. The county institutionalized the IMT and LCCA tools, reducing reliance on government for repairs, and integrated the WASH SSI project outcomes directly into the current CIDP, ensuring sustainability of the systems-strengthening approach.
