Patrick Alubbe is the Executive Director at Kenya Water for Health Organization (KWAHO).
He has a background in Water Engineering (BSC Water Engineering) and a master in Organizational Leadership (MOL) a field
that he has worked in for over 35 years. He is a member of the Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK) and the Institute of
Engineering and Technology (IET) Kenya.
Has expertise in waterworks infrastructure development, water supply management,
low-cost water technologies, and water governance including policies influencing,
and championing human rights to WASH services. Seasoned, organizational leader, Partnership management,
Sanitation expert, and one of the pioneers of market-based WASH financial solutions.
He is a trainer of trainers cutting across the WASH sector and a mentor of many.
He has worked as the Regional Director at Water.org East Africa Office for 12 years overseeing activities in East Africa
including Ethiopia. During this period he initiated partnerships with a myriad of financial institutions both local and
International NGOs to facilitate access to water and sanitation through market-based solutions. He has also worked as a
lead Technical person at SANA International, a District Program Manager with the former Rural Domestic Water Supply and S
anitation Program (RDWSSP) a Bilateral program between the Netherlands and Kenya Governments and in the public service Ministry
of Water and Irrigation, in the Design and Planning section.
He has been involved in many international forums, delivering keynote speeches. He was honored in 2016 as one of the
fifty most impactful leaders in water and water management globally.
He served as a steering committee member of many organizations including the Water Supply Sanitation Collaborative
Council (WSSCC) in Geneva Switzerland, a UN body organization for three years, the National Sanitation Management
Policy team, at the Ministry of Water Sanitation and Irrigation, WASH Alliance Kenya and House of Governance.
As Board of Directors, at Kimisitu Investment Company PLC, National Advisory Member to the National Real
Time Monitoring information System housed at the Ministry Of Health, Public Health Division, and previously
on the Kenya Water Sanitation Network (KEWASNET) Governing Council.
Mwiva is the team leader at KWAHO’s finance department and has had more than 16
years of experience in financial management in the private and nonprofit sectors and
has a Master of Science Degree in Finance & Investments, an undergraduate degree in
Accounting.
Mr. Mwiva, a CPA finalist, registered with ICPAK and also a Forensics and Investigative
Accounting expert, has had an extensive career with KWAHO, and as Organization’s
Finance Manager, he is accountable for managing and directing the organization’s
finance and budgeting function, while also supporting the design and execution of the
overall strategies and providing the leadership and management necessary to ensure
that KWAHO has support programs, operational controls, financial and reporting
procedures, financial systems to ensure financial strength, operations efficiencies, and
competitive advantage in support of KWAHO mission.
Mwiva joined the KWAHO in 2007 as a project accountant has over the years gained
financial, operational and technology management experience in mission-focused and
value-driven firms. He is a trusted advisor, leader and think tank, with substantial
experience in controlling costs, identifying opportunities that create value, advancing
organizational culture and driving innovation with a passion for building loyal and
motivated teams that collaborate and contribute to a culture of success in finance and
programs work.
He handles an annual average portfolio of over USD 3 million.
B.Sc. MPPA Ongoing- Kwena has over 7 years’ experience in the Water and Sanitation sector and is presently the programmes coordinator at KWAHO. Kwena has B.Sc. In Community Development and Environmental Studies and Presently Pursuing a Masters in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) - Kenyatta University. Kwena also has a certificate in Leadership and Mentorship from Kenyatta University. Kwena has participated in several international forums on water and sanitation including the Stockholm World Water Week (SWWW), The Kenya Sanitation Conference, The East African Water Summit, and WASPA International Conference among many others. Kwena has also been involved in the development of important sector documents including the popular versions of the Water Act 2016, Popular Versions of the Public participation Act for Laikipia County, Social Accountability Handbook for WASH/WRM practitioners, among others. Kwena has also co- authored Climate Change Adaptation through Sustainable Water Resources Management in Kenya: Challenges and Opportunities. And was the main writer/consultant of “Sex for Water: Narratives and Perspectives from the informal settlements” among others
Petronila Musonye:-is the WASH Programmes Manager. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and Community Development.
She is passionate in improving access to Fundamental Rights with a bias to water, sanitation, and education, while upholding integrity and ensuring adherence to Human Rights.
She has vast experience in WASH projects implementation in both Rural and Urban set-ups. She is also a strong advocate for Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), Child protection,
Gender mainstreaming, Social inclusion, HIV/AIDS and Environmental management.
Nancy Musya is a business and marketing expert with vast experience from both the public and
private sector. She is a strong advocate for sanitation entrepreneurship aimed at ensuring
communities have access to clean drinking water and affordable, quality sanitation products.
Her extensive experience includes capacity building communities on market-based WASH
interventions, linking them with micro finance institutions for support in accessing affordable
WASH solutions and helping them to start and grow successful sanitation enterprises. She has a
passion for training communities especially women and the youth and impacting them with
entrepreneurial skills.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Daystar University and an Executive MBA from
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Emmanuel Mwango is a WASH project officer implementing the Sustainable Management and Access to
Water and sanitation in the ASALS Programme (SWASAP) in Tana River County. Driven by conviction to
promote good governance and dignified access of communities to WASH, he has excelled in working
with vulnerable communities to realize their livelihood and health aspirations.
Inspired by the need to transform lives through health promotion, he has implemented the Kenya
Sanitation and Hygiene Improvement Programme (K-SHIP) and the Sanitation and Hygiene for Universal
Health Care Project (SHUK) in Kwale County which, together with the county government of Kwale,
supported 177 villages in becoming open defecation free.
Working with national and sub national line departments, he has supported development of key policy
documents in the water and health sector including the Kwale county ODF road map 2021, Water Supply
and Sanitation Collaborative Council guidelines on integrating MHM in sanitation and hygiene
programming and the draft national sanitation and hygiene protocols 2021.
He aspires to continue strengthening partnerships that will significantly reduce the number of deaths
and diseases attributed to poor sanitation and hygiene in Kenya.
Miss Damaris Khakali is a project officer. Her areas of expertise include strengthening good governance and social inclusion which entail; transparency, citizen participation and accountability reforms. Within the broader framework of promoting governance reforms, she focuses on initiatives that foster access to public information through policy dialogue, technical assistance, and knowledge and learning. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, with a major in sociology and a minor in gender and development studies and Psychology from Kenyatta University and also has a diploma in French Studies from Alliance Français Nairobi.
Bendy is a development practitioner in community
health and development with a strong background in
public health from Kenya medical training college.
She has been involved in implementation of WASH
programs and in facilitating interaction with different
development partners; including Government, civil
society organizations, local implementing partners, the private sector
and various community groups.
This far, she has been of service to a range of organizations including;
HealthRight International, AMREF and SNV. Prior to this appointment
she worked for SNV Kenya, WASH First Project in Nakuru County as a
Wash Officer.
She has implemented programs/projects funded by different donors
including AMREF Italy, USAID, DFID and Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Dutch.
Angela Kabura is the Finance Officer at Kenya Water for Health Organisation (KWAHO) She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from KCAU University. She has over 5years experience in finance management.
